first stages of paper tiger catamaran restoration

The first stages of the paper tiger restoration is of course buy the boat. To buy the boat we had too bid on it which was an agonising prosecss. After five long minutes we had won it for $300. The next day we had organised to pick it up from its home in Gympie. on Sunday the 28th of march we arrived at Paul's house about 2:30pm. Once we were there we gathered all the gear that was with it, put it in the trailers sail box, lifted the boat onto the trailer tied the mast and the boat down and set off for home. When we got home we unloaded the Paper Tiger onto the grass and took all the gear out of the sail box ontothe ground. After wer had taken the trailer back to the people we borrowed it from we started to scrap and sand the boat back so we could water proof it, but we had struck a problem there was a two rotton pieces of wood under the deck. So we had to remove the deck and replace the wood for structural saftey. once the new pieces of wood were in we fibreglassed them in and placed the deck back onto the hulls. After the deck was on we could putty and glass up the join. Finally the deck was on so we could start putting the water proofing mixture onto the rest of the deck(s). when the putty mixture was dry we started to sand it back and putting the new for me but second hand galvanised beams onto the boat (in near perfect condition). But... we struck a problem the bolts weren't long enough to go through a strengthing beam through the deck and up the beams.( this is a s far as we have gotten so far with the boat)

  1. Woo hoo! First step complete and keep doing it :-)
I wish I had the ability to do up a cat so I look forward to the future instalments. I'd love to hear about your weekend sailing and whatever else you are experiencing.
